...beginning with running Go-Karts when he was four years old in 2006. After racing Quarter Midgets for four years, Smith took on INEX Bandolero racing at 10 years old. He won multiple Bandolero Bandits National Championships in addition to track championships and more during his few years in the entry-level racing division.
Smith made the jump to Super Late Models shortly thereafter, showcasing his craft in big-name races as well as in series like the CARS Pro Late Model Tour.
In 2018, Smith began racing a part-time schedule in the ARCA Menards Series (ARCA). In just nine races, the then-16-year-old won twice, scored six top-fives and finished every race in the top-ten.
The following year, he began driving part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (CTS) in addition to his part-time schedule in ARCA and Super Late Model racing. In four CTS races in 2019, he finished in the top-five three times and never finished outside the top-ten. He added to that with five ARCA wins in 11 races.
Over the course of 2020, Smith enhanced his CTS and ARCA series schedule with 25 combined races. He scored five top-fives in the CTS and two wins in ARCA.
Smith finally made the jump to a full-time ride in the CTS in 2021 and made a name for himself in the national audience’s eyes quickly. Smith scored his first NASCAR national series win at Bristol Motor Speedway in the UNOH 200 Presented by Ohio Logistics on Sept. 16, 2021. He then followed that up with another win in the season finale at Phoenix Raceway in the Lucas Oil 150.
Smith’s 2022 season put him on the map of young and upcoming drivers. He finished third in the CTS Playoffs after 3 wins, 9 top-fives and 16 top-tens in 23 races. He made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut and raced three times in the circuit at Talladega Superspeedway, Dover Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway, the latter of which he scored a seventh-place finish at the Contender Boats 300.
The 2023 season will be the most transformative of Smith’s young career. Racing for a new team in Kaulig Racing, Smith will run full-time in the Xfinity Series in the No. 16 Quick Tie Chevrolet Camaro while making select starts in the No. 13 Quick Tie Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the NASCAR Cup Series.
When not behind the wheel, Smith enjoys spending time with his wife, Kenzie, and his son, Chandler, Jr.
